July 15 BBC NEWS | Education | Private schools charity threathttp://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/education/8148347.stmBad for all the Charities and the 'reputations' of the good Charities. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/comment/3553922/To-be-charitable-this-commission-is-warped.html The commission was widely attacked for failing to recognise that relieving the state of the cost of educating 500,000 children counts as a benefit to everyone who pays tax. But the real enormity is the test itself, which is political prejudice masquerading as objective assessment. "Public benefit", as applied to charities, is meaningless. No charity benefits everyone: women's charities benefit women, cancer charities those with cancer, and charities for animals don't benefit people at all. It cannot be an objection to a charity that it benefits only part of the population, for every charity does that. In practice, the question becomes: which parts of the population will be allowed to count as "deserving"? £3bn in Savings. Why we have all stopped giving to any charities! Or, at least, are now thinking really hard and seriously: twice - about it! A complaint about Suzi Leather's 'harassment' I have just made to UNICEF. Please complain to as many other charities as possible about her attitude to the Independent Schools Sector, when so many parents are doing much more than their bit for their schools and the resource's of their country! 'Bullying, Hate & Jealousy'. Politics of Envy. Private Education is quite unique and separate from all of Suzi Leather's Charities, due to the vast amounts of public money principally saved and a reliance that it has on the massive input and goodwill of parents (PTFA's - costly in free time and private money) some, who only by a whisker, can afford any 'private school fees' in the first place. Dame Suzi Leather, chair of the Charity Commission, said: "Charities do a fantastic amount of good and have a unique place in society, which is why they enjoy such high levels of public trust and confidence. They receive the reputational benefits of being charities, as well as tax breaks, so in return it's right that they demonstrate how they bring real benefit to the public. The majority of the charities we've assessed are already providing public benefit in a variety of ways. The other charities are capable of doing so and remain registered, but they must now agree with us in the next twelve months the changes that are needed."
